Today we speak about the fact that there is no sin. Sin is a projection. In Christianity, the concept of sin is somehow derived from Genesis, where Adam and Eve, being in a state of bliss, taste from the Tree of Knowledge and therefore fall. Our Lord Jesus Christ comes to save us from this original sin, but an original sin presumes guilt. In truth, the Lord is responsible and accountable to the Absolute, and hence ‘we’, as an expression of Him, not as a part of Him, but rather as an aspect inseparable from Him, one with Him, are responsible and accountable.
The act of ‘falling’1 from grace is actually a potentiality emerging from a state of bliss, a process of learning, of becoming responsible, of becoming accountable. Sin is rather a projection of the human mind, yet there is no such thing as a human mind, just a concept defined in consciousness; Consciousness being one with Creation, one with the Source of It, one with the Lord. Projection manifests in the act of observation, the consequence of a ‘position’2 - point of observation.
The Illusion of Causality and Projections
Another presumption in consciousness that is not true is causality. The process of learning is not caused by the fall from grace; it is rather a natural process3 within Creation. Evolution is Creation, no different and not separate from the Creator. There’s no such thing as causality. Causality implies a separateness of there is something ‘out there’ generating a ’this’ —whereas in truth, there is nothing but the emergence of Creation, which is evolution. What one observes is All That Is, and all that is, is the Will of God: complete, perfect, and whole4.
The will of God
This is the term used in the world. The Lord Himself does not need anything. It is already complete, perfect and whole. The Will of God is the potential of all Creation manifesting beyond any conceptualization, which is not different than the Truth. The evolution of consciousness through not resisting the Will of God and surrendering to all that is, is the process of knowing the Truth, ‘our’5 Lord. To know the Lord, the Truth, is to surrender to His Will, to stop judging, and to stop resisting the manifestation of the potentiality of Creation67.
About Judgement
Judgement is projection and repeating old patterns is accompanied by a sense of gratification and pleasure. Lord Buddha has a parable where He explains that the worldly ‘person’ not knowing a way out of the cycle of suffering other than pleasure is seeking it as a remedy to the discomfort of being into the world. So ‘when’8 being into the world the Will of God is resisted through the seeking of pleasure, an aversion to the discomfort of being into the world and an attachment to seeking pleasure emerges. In contrast the ’educated disciple’9 being into the discomfort of the world goes through it nonattached and this is what Lord Krishna and ‘our’ Lord Jesus Christ have taught.10
Stop Projecting and Suffering
To stop projection including repeating old patterns is to let go of the attachment to the pleasure that is derived from suffering and from the satisfaction of the perception11 of getting things done.
To surrender to the Will of God, to the Truth, to realize God, to be saved in terms of Salvation, to be Enlighten, to exit the ever repeating cycle of suffering - Samsara is to transcend the conditions of the emergence of projections.
Lord Jesus Christ Himself speaks of this phenomenon. He says that the eyes are the lamp of the body. When there’s darkness within the body one cannot see and he invites one to seek a state where one is in light not in darkness. He also offers a beautiful parable for projection that speaks of seeing and removing one’s beam from the eye and then removing the speck of dust from the other’s eye. He says that the remedy to projection is to take care of one’s beam and then one could be helpful to others. In other contexts, He says Physician heal yourself12 before healing others13.
Transcending Negative Emotions
If everything is potential manifesting, the conditions where projections emerge are what are labeled as negative emotions. When one goes through the discomfort of negative emotions, one’s mind is clouded with darkness. If there is fear, guilt, or desire, that underlying emotion tends to structure the thinking presented to the screen of awareness. Instead of acting out and giving reality to those images, which are like hallucinations, and seeking solutions to problems that are just projections, an alternative is to interrupt the process.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said in Matthew that when one is before the altar, if there is any conflict not reconciled with a brother, reconcile the conflict first and then come back to put the offering on the altar. When one is clouded by the darkness of any negative emotion, first create conditions for clarity. In Zen, there is a metaphor of a mirror where projection is as if one sees something extra that distorts the image and has to be taken out. Similarly, the Buddha comes with an analogy of a pond of water that is tainted, speaking of the inability to see through the water unless the mud settles.14
Intention and Surrender
A way to interrupt projection is to acknowledge the state: if one is afraid of tomorrow, acknowledge “I am afraid.” If one feels guilty, “I feel guilty.” If one is ashamed, “I feel shame.” Once the underlying emotion is recognized, that can be surrendered. In Buddhist meditation, one moves the focus from the content of the mind, from the thoughts and sensations, without resisting them, to that which is beyond the thinking, simply observing. This is the first way of getting through intention from focussing to the content to context.
A simple powerful Way to let go
Our Lord Jesus Christ gives a complementary method of intention and prayer, and He says that anything one prays for He will help them. If one is asking for the Truth, one is asking to see, the Lord will help one. An intentional prayer that works is to say:
“To Thee, O Lord, I surrender this fear, or this guilt.” 15
Through surrendering ’negative emotions’, one reaches clarity. Through such a process of not resisting the Will of God, synonymous with the emergence of Creation one may reach knowing the Truth. Realizing the Truth is called in Christianity Salvation, or in Eastern religions Enlightenment. Lord Jesus Christ said in the context of being with the apostles that some of them will know the Kingdom of God has come before tasting death. The End Times are about the realization of the Truth, not the projection of an apocalypse or the physical ending of the world. Similarly, the flood in the context of the Ark of Noah is the symbol of the reconciliation that comes with the realization of oneness with the Lord, with the Source, with our Lord Jesus Christ, the Buddha Nature, or Atman.
